FAQ

Common questions

Does it replace our simulation software?

It is built for the design phase: deciding how many machines, stations and lines you need, how they are laid out and whether they meet takt. It does not model control logic, robot paths or PLC behaviour. Many teams will use it to arrive at a design worth detailing.

Can it model a robot cell?

Yes — as rule-based cycle times, waits and orientation changes. Times can follow the part: a tool change after a long part can include the robot's run back to the tool rack. Path planning, reach and PLC logic belong in 3D and virtual-commissioning tools.

Machsizer assumes the product can be made as you describe it. It does not check PLC logic, robot reach or physical limits; those limits live in your product definition and equipment library: which steps a product needs and under which conditions, which machine can do them, and how long they take. Products can have orientations (side A, B, C), and a change of orientation is its own named step with its own time and machine, such as “Flip A→B” on a flip station.

What kinds of production does it handle?

Discrete products: assembly lines with feeders, products that are turned or flipped, variants, job shops and re-entrant flow such as wafer fabs. Batch processes too: batch reactors and ovens, cleaning and changeovers between products, campaigns. Continuous processes can be approximated in lots (one unit = one tonne, one tote); flow rates, tank levels and one-stream-into-several splits are not modelled yet.

Do I need a full bill of materials?

No. A product can be just its steps with times and variation. Materials, options, dimensions and formulas are there when you want them.

How do I get my data in?

Start from a ready-made example, build in the app, or bring a spreadsheet: the import guide maps your columns, and every change is shown in the table before it is applied. Everything that can be set in a file can also be set in the app.

How accurate is it?

See validation. Each benchmark is included as a project in the trial, with its source and expected answer, so you can run it yourself.

Where is my data stored?

In the EU: the app and its database run in Frankfurt. Your projects are not stored by us; they stay in your browser and your files, and a job is worked on in memory only. You can export every project as a file at any time.

Can an AI assistant use Machsizer?

Yes. Machsizer has an MCP server. Connect Claude, ask for a line in plain words, and it writes the profile, builds and simulates the line and explains what limits it. See MCP server.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in a modern browser. Large runs are handled on our servers.
